Obtained Civil Engineering License Despite Limitations
I was finally able to take my civil engineer licensure examination after a year of delay due to the pandemic. To be honest, I was unsure about taking the exam because of the changing situations in the country. I found myself dumbstruck in the first few days of study, because it had been months since I last studied. There were moments I just stared blankly at the questions.
I remember declaring to myself back in college that I would be able to obtain my license in one take. As often as I could, I would declare that again. But I had so many topics left uncovered, the questions were very difficult, and time was running out fast. There were days I felt I was going in the right direction and days I felt I was going nowhere with my studies.
Despite my emotional roller coaster, I continued to listen to God’s promises through sermons on grace and hope. Whenever I felt discouraged, I would read praise reports of someone who not only passed their exams but also got high grades despite their difficult circumstances. It always got my fire back, and with renewed hope and faith, I learned to let go and study at a light pace.
The day before the exam, I listened to Pastor Prince preach about expecting a miracle as long as we remain in peace. It was timely for my situation because of my bold request to achieve excellent grades despite my limited knowledge and preparation. As I sat for the exam, I kept declaring God’s promises on wisdom and shalom-peace, spoke over the questionnaires, and even wrote “The Battle is the Lord’s” on every exam paper. There were a lot of difficult questions so every time I shaded my answer, I prayed in the Spirit.
After the exam, I went home with joy and peace in my heart, thanking and trusting God for His lavish love and grace. I seldom thought about my exam results until a close friend told me we had obtained our licenses! I could not believe it and went to check for myself.
Seeing my name on the list of those who had passed, I smiled and thanked the Lord for making it happen. Despite having only 2 months to prepare, He saw me through, and now I’m here, a licensed engineer! Indeed, it was never about my own efforts and striving but all about Him and His finished work. He will never put me to shame when I wholeheartedly put my trust in Him.
This experience did not only become a milestone in my life, but it also became a milestone for my spiritual growth. Because of this journey, I grew closer to Jesus and got to know Him better in so many ways.
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your wonderful ministry of pointing us to Jesus and away from ourselves. This is a life-changing testimony of His goodness that I will tell for the rest of my life. All glory to God!
