From Failing Consistently To Excelling In Final Exams
Being weak in my studies while being in the best class in my school put a lot of pressure on me. I tried my best to study hard as I needed to do well to get into a good college. But since the beginning of the school term, I could not cope with all the subjects and kept failing in my class tests.
Due to my poor results, the school notified my parents, and my father became very worried about me. When I failed in my half-yearly examination, the school called up my parents again. This time, my mother and I cried in front of my class teacher. What a sight!
I was told that I was useless and that I should commit suicide. That caused me to become extremely depressed. Everyone began teasing me, calling me “the tension boy.” Even my family wanted me to consult a psychiatrist.
Though I was born in a Christian family, I had no idea about the gospel of grace. But somehow, God led me to listen to Pastor Prince’s sermons on the topic of rest. As I heard the sermons, I began to experience peace. So I would play his sermons while studying. All my friends and teachers told me to work hard when my final exams were around the corner, but I knew that the more I worked hard in my own strength, the more I would fail.
Through listening to Pastor Prince’s sermons, I realized that God was working behind the scenes and I needed to remain in rest. Just two days before my Physics exam, I was reminded through Pastor Prince that “if God wants the glory, let God do the work!” So I decided to give my exams to Jesus and when I sat for them, I went with the knowing that it was Jesus doing the paper in and through me.
With that revelation, I was able to sit for every exam with a joyful hope. Every exam went well and I scored seventy-seven percent in my final results, much better than what I did before. I even obtained good marks for the entrance exam to a college by God’s grace.
I realized that my good results were not dependent on my preparation but on the finished work of Jesus. Now, I know that what matters to me matters to Him and I’m looking to Him alone for my future.
Pastor Prince, thank you from the bottom of my heart for revealing the true Jesus who always loves me.
