For almost 30 years, I was a prisoner of the law of the old covenant and was under harsh teachings from the pulpit. About 10 years ago, I made a decision to leave church after which I felt so lost and was almost driven to despair because of a guilt-ridden mind.

Pastor Prince, your ministry has helped me in ways beyond my imagination. My elder sister, Pooja, was the one who introduced me to your teachings. She had experienced the love of Jesus and I accepted Jesus partly due to her experience.

I was finally able to take my civil engineer licensure examination after a year of delay due to the pandemic. To be honest, I was unsure about taking the exam because of the changing situations in the country. I found myself dumbstruck in the first few days of study, because it had been months since I last studied. There were moments I just stared blankly at the questions.

I was raised as a Christian and had accepted Christ in 1985. The many Christian churches I went to always taught a mixture of law and grace, and I was a lukewarm Christian. My dad was a womanizer and I grew up seeing how my mum suffered as a result. This and the lack of a father’s love made me believe wrongly and accept a man whom I thought was giving me the right kind of love.

I work as a policeman and have seen a lot of death and pain in my line of duty. One day, everything hit me all at once, and I was struck with anxiety attacks. I work out at the gym and practice self-defense regularly, but when anxiety hits, no muscle or martial arts could help me. I started getting heart palpitations, dark thoughts, and couldn’t sleep at night.

I have always had a bad relationship with food. I would either overeat or go on extreme diets.But after listening to Pastor Prince’s messages on health and how Jesus through the cross provides restoration for my health, I realized that it wasn’t my relationship with my body or food that was unhealthy; it was my relationship with God that wasn’t right.

I had been raised by a cruel and abusive father who was mentally unsound and incredibly legalistic. I spent my childhood fearing him and struggled desperately to be loved. By the time I was a teenager, my self-esteem was incredibly low. I thought I was hideously unattractive, stupid, and a burden to anybody I met.

When our son Jonas was 11 months, he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. The doctors recommended that Jonas go for a bone marrow transplant as there was no other cure for the disease and we were told chemotherapy might not work.

I was raised as a believer but was taught some limiting beliefs. I believed if I was trusting God for something and sinned, spoke negatively about it, or got in strife with someone, that would end my “faith walk” of trusting God for my breakthrough, and I had to start back at square one. I also believed that if my breakthrough took time or wasn’t happening, it was because my faith wasn’t enough.

One afternoon, I watched one of Pastor Prince’s sermons on Psalm 91, where he encouraged us and our children to memorize that portion of Scripture. Pastor Prince showed a video of his son reciting Psalm 91, which really touched my heart.

Pastor Prince, I’m a twenty-three-year-old university student who grew up in a Christian family, attended church, and went to a Christian college. However, I made choices in life that greatly delayed my studies, career, relationships, and spiritual growth.

Earlier this year, I had been told by my supervisor that the company had to let me go because the firm was struggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. They needed to cut costs and unfortunately that involved the removal of my role. Just like that, I was let go the following day.
