Son Excelling In His Worst Subject
For quite some time, I had stopped reading the book, Unmerited Favor. But recently, I picked up the book again. I continued from where I left off and it happened to be where Pastor Prince wrote about how David defeated Goliath.
At that time, I was helping my son prepare for his exams and that chapter was like God speaking to me. All the while, my son had found the subject, Mathematics, the most difficult and just didn’t seem to do well. Needless to say, he had the least confidence in his Mathematics paper which was two days away.
After reading the chapter, I felt that my son was like David and his Mathematics paper, his “Goliath”. I believed that if my son were to declare that the Lord’s armies were with him, he would be able to conquer his “Goliath”.
That night, I was excited. I felt like God telling me that this would be a turning point for my son. There was no looking back and he would experience greater success in the days to come.
The next day, I woke up early and read the daily devotion by Pastor Prince. The devotion for that day was another account of David defeating Goliath! I immediately knew it was no coincidence. I believed that God was with my son and therefore, he would do well for his paper.
The night before my son’s exam, I shared with him the devotion I read and told him not to fear. I also encouraged him to call out to God if he had problems solving the questions.
After his paper the next day, my son did not tell me how he felt. But he told me that he did ask God for help when he was stuck during the exam.
When the results were out, out of the four subjects, my son scored the highest for Mathematics — his “Goliath”. All glory to Jesus!
My son did not expect it at all. Our Lord Jesus is really good; He made my son’s worst subject to be his best subject.
Now, I don’t hear my son say that he is no good or lousy in Mathematics. In fact, according to him, all the questions that he asked God for help, turned out to be correct. Indeed, our Lord Jesus is a shout away and as Jesus is, so is my son. With God with my son, he is indeed a successful boy.
